Dry Fish Gravy- A Taste Of Tradition

Ingredients

  • Dry Fish
  • Brinjal
  • Tomato
  • Tamarind
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Curry Leaves
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Red Chilli
  • Mustard Seeds
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Fenugreek Seeds
  • Sesame Oil
  • Coconut
  • Gravy Masala Powder

Prerequisite

  1. Cut brinjal into small pieces. 
  2. Cut onions and tomato into small pieces.
  3. Grate the coconut.

Recipe

Preparing Gravy Masala Powder

In a tawa, add 50g of coriander seeds, 1 spoon of fenugreek seeds, and chana dal 2 spoons and roast them well. Grind them.

Sauteing

In a tawa, 7 spoons of sesame oil and heat it. Add 1 cup of onion, 12 cloves of garlic, 6 red chillies, a small number of curry leaves, and 3 tomatoes. Saute them in oil.

Add 1/2 cup of gravy masala powder and 1 cup of grated coconut. Mix them well. And grind them.

Preparing Tamarind Water

Take 25g of tamarind and 1 glass of water and mix well. Filter the water.

Preparing Gravy

In another tawa, add 5 spoons of sesame oil and heat it.

Add 1 spoon of mustard seeds and 1/2 spoon of fenugreek seeds and let them crackle. Add 4 red chillies, a small number of curry leaves, and 1/2 cup of onion and saute them in oil until the onion changes to a light golden brown colour.

Add 1 spoonful of turmeric powder, 5 brinjal, and the prepared tamarind water. Let it boil.

Add 100g of dry fish and mix well. Next add the grinded masala, 2 spoons of salt, and 2 glasses of water. Let it boil for 20 minutes. At last, add some coriander leaves.
